On Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 11:00 with the presence of Prof. Dr. Abdulwahab Khalid Vice President for students affairs, deanship of the faculty of Education and faculty of humanities, staff from 8th Branch of KDP, president of the sport unit of Zakho, head of state of the Zakho branch of the Kurdistan students union and the audience, the final match was played between the (University of Zakho and University of Duhok) at the sport hall of the University of Zakho.
The University of Zakho won against the University of Duhok by (78-77) and become the champion of the basketball tournament of the Duhok Government.

It is worth mentioning that Assist. Pro. Dr. Lazgin Abdi Jameel, the president of the University of Zakho, at the presidency of the University received all the players and staff from the faculty of Education, congratulated them for their hard work during the tournament, and wished them to be successful. Then the director and the captain of the basketball team gave the championship cup to the president of the University as a gift.
